About Kayla Due
Kayla Due founded KT Fine Arts in 2018. She received a BFA in Arts Education, and MFA in Visual Arts, and now works as a Drawing & Illustration professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Her artistic practice explores a blend between abstraction and realism, drawing inspiration from observation of the natural world. Through drawing and painting, she is interested in the unique character of her subjects, and in how those qualities can be communicated through the exploration of mark-making. She is inspired specifically by the experimentation, discovery, and problem-solving that unfold throughout the creative process. Using creativity as a way of observing, interpreting, and connecting with the world.
At the heart of the work is a desire to create moments of reconnection. In an increasingly digital and introverted world, her work considers the importance of a relationship with others and the natural environment, while celebrating the value of slowing down and engaging with the creative process. She hopes to create pieces that encourage reflection and curiosity.
